Public Talk • The Science of Peace - A Life Beyond Fear

with internationally renowned Buddhist Monk and Teacher
Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab,
retired Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU

Wednesday April 29, 2026 | 7:30pm-9pm

  • Is a life beyond fear even possible?

According to Buddha, fear arises from how we respond to our environment, not from the environment itself. The fear and anxiety that we experience is therefore not inevitable.

Through the practice of meditation, we can learn to work skillfully with our fear. Instead of allowing it to overwhelm us, we learn to redirect it, so that it moves us towards developing those states of mind that naturally give rise to peace, confidence and a strong sense of purpose. In this talk, we will discover the science of peace and how to use it to make our life truly happy.

Based on his 40 years of experience of meditation, Buddhist monk Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab, senior disciple of the great Buddhist teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, and retired Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition, will guide us into recognizing our potential for a meaningful and joyful life truly beyond fear.

This public talk will be in English with simultaneous translation in French.

    Everyone welcome.

  • Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab is a retired General Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU, he has trained closely with the great Buddhist teacher Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche for more than forty years. His humility and pure example reflect his many years of reliance on his Spiritual Guide.

An internationally renowned Teacher, he is greatly admired as a sincere practitioner and a powerful Teacher. He is also well-known for his wisdom and deep understanding of Buddha's teachings, and for his pure example of compassion and loving-kindness.

with the Buddhist monk and resident teacher at KMC Ottawa

Gen Kelsang Thekchen

May 30 and 31

  • How many times each day do we find ourselves in situations we didn’t choose?

What if, instead of simply enduring these difficult moments, we learned to transform them into opportunities to nurture our virtues and cultivate a more lasting happiness?

Imagine having the flexibility and skill to turn every problem into an opportunity to cultivate a kind heart and genuine wisdom.

During this special weekend, we will have the chance to receive teachings from Genn Thekchen on how to “transform adverse conditions into the path.” He will share concrete ways to change our perspective and way of thinking so we can learn to use every situation—even the most difficult ones—to our advantage.

Thanks to his inspiring experience in putting these instructions into practice and his practical, heartfelt examples, we will leave feeling encouraged to integrate this powerful advice into our daily lives to become the person we truly have the potential to be: a calm and compassionate person, offering others a source of inspiration in this world filled with so much suffering.

The teachings will be given in English and simultaneously translated into French.

Quebec Dharma Celebration 2025

5 Forces for Positive Change

Blessing Empowerment of
1000 armed Avalokiteshvara
Buddha of compassion

with Gen Kelsang Chodor
Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada
Novembre 21-23, 2025 (available online until Dec 7)

The Quebec Dharma Celebration is a special annual event held at Kadampa Meditation Centre Montreal and is open to everyone.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for hundreds of people from all backgrounds to come together to receive heartfelt advice, practical teachings, and meditation practices on how to live with greater meaning and joy by applying Buddha’s wisdom (Dharma) in daily life..

This year’s Celebration focuses on the practice of compassion, the very heart of the Buddhist way of life. Compassion is an extraordinary mind that shatters the illusion that we are alone in our suffering, opening our hearts to empathy, understanding, and deeper connection with others. It heals our mind and our relationships and, when paired with wisdom, has immense power to benefit and protect others.

During this weekend event, Gen Chodor will grant the blessing empowerment of 1000-armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. The empowerment is a guided meditation and blessing ceremony that connects us directly with Avalokiteshvara’s enlightened compassion, strengthening this quality within our own mind.

During his teachings, Gen Chodor will explain how to apply five special forces to our compassion so that it can grow and expand until it becomes universal compassion—the heartfelt wish to protect all living beings from suffering.

Everyone is welcome !

Public Talk • Finding Peace in the Digital Age

Public Talk - Finding Peace in the Digital Age

with international Buddhist Monk & Teacher
Gen Kelsang Chodor, guest teacher

Wednesday November 12, 2025 | 7:30pm-9pm

In this talk, Gen Chodor will share a Buddhist perspective on how to find genuine peace and contentment while living in this ever-evolving digital age. Discover how to create an inner space of calm, and how to live with technology without being ruled by it.

Everybody welcome !

  • Is it possible to find genuine peace in this digital age?

The fast-paced development of modern technology and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) are increasing stress and anxiety for most people, but would we say the quality of human life is improving? Is there an actual increase in human happiness? Does living in the digital age mean we’re destined to feel stressed and restless?

Despite all the amazing development we have witnessed in recent years, for many of us, technology has had the opposite effect, leaving us more agitated, distracted, addicted, and even fearful. As AI becomes more accessible, we could eventually lose our ability to think for ourselves, weakening our capacity to find happiness within through the power of our own thoughts and feelings.

In this talk, Gen Chodor will share a Buddhist perspective on how to develop our capacity to find genuine peace and contentment while living in this ever-evolving digital age. Discover how to create an inner space of calm through the power of your own thoughts, and how to live with technology without being ruled by it.
